AI and Wix in 2026: where is the real time saving for companies?

AI and Wix are increasingly mentioned in the same breath. This usually refers to two well-known features: the Wix AI Website Builder, which allows you to quickly create your first website, and Astro, the AI assistant in your Wix dashboard.

Handy? Certainly.

Revolutionary for professional client work? Not always.

At Yonglo, we have been building Wix websites for SMEs in the Netherlands and Belgium for over 17 years. We continuously test new Wix AI features in real-world situations. Not because AI is “trendy,” but because we want to know where it truly saves customers time, money, and quality.

And let's be honest: the biggest gains often don't lie in the grand AI promise of “a complete website in five minutes.” The real gains are in the smart components that speed up daily work: better images, faster content concepts, responsive optimization, CMS structures, product copy, AI visibility, and more recently, the Wix MCP, which allows you to integrate AI tools like Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT directly with Wix.

In this article, we explain:

  • which AI features in Wix we use daily;

  • what the difference is between Wix Studio, the classic Wix Editor, and Wix Harmony;

  • how AI helps with SEO, content, and e-commerce;

  • why the Wix MCP is an important development;

  • what our development workflow with GitHub and AI looks like;

  • and above all: where AI ends and human expertise remains necessary.

AI in Wix: which environments are we talking about?

This article focuses primarily on Wix Studio and the classic Wix Editor.

These are the two environments in which Yonglo builds and maintains client projects. Most of the practical AI functions we use daily are located in these environments.

Wix Studio

Wix Studio is the professional build environment from Wix. This environment is particularly suitable for agencies, designers, and developers who want more control over responsive design, layout, code, CMS, automation, and customization.

Classic Wix Editor

The classic Wix Editor is the familiar environment in which many existing Wix websites are built. Many AI features are also available here, such as image editing, text suggestions, SEO help, and product descriptions.

AI and Wix in 2026: where is the real time saving for companies?

And what about Wix Harmony?

In January 2026, Wix also launched Wix Harmony: a new build environment where you can “talk” to an AI agent named Aria to build or modify websites. This is also known as vibe coding: you describe what you want, after which AI adjusts the website visually and technically.

Wix has launched Harmony on a grand scale, including an international campaign. It is undoubtedly an interesting development.

But our honest opinion at the moment:

Wix Harmony is promising, but not yet mature enough for professional client work.

There are two important reasons for that.

First of all, the environment is still very much under development. For business websites, we want predictability, control, and stability. A client website is often directly linked to revenue, inquiries, bookings, or sales. In that case, you want to know exactly what happens when you publish.

Secondly, the visual result is not always distinctive enough yet. AI websites often look neat, but also generic. Many results feel as though they are based on an average of thousands of “modern websites.” Fine for a quick initial setup, but not for a company that wants to clearly distinguish itself in the market.

Therefore, for the time being, we are building client projects primarily in Wix Studio and the classic Wix Editor. We continue to test Harmony. As soon as it is good enough for serious client work, we will incorporate it into our workflow.

The AI features in Wix that we actually use

Much AI marketing is about spectacular promises. In practice, the greatest time savings lie in small, concrete functions that speed up daily work.

These are the Wix AI features we use most often at Yonglo.

1. AI image editing in Wix: the silent time-saver

Visuals are a challenge in almost every web project. Clients provide photos that are too small, poorly cropped, too dark, blurry, or unsuitable for the chosen design.

In the past, that meant a lot of manual work in external tools. Nowadays, AI solves a large part of this preparatory work.

Within Wix, we primarily use these functions:

Upscale resolution

With Upscale resolution, Wix sharpens a small or blurry image using machine learning. This is especially useful when a client only has an old, low-resolution product photo, team photo, or lifestyle image.

It doesn't suddenly make a bad photo perfect, but it can make just the difference between “unusable” and “fine for the web”.

Object eraser

With Object Eraser, you remove unwanted elements from an image. Think of a trash can in the background, a distracting sign, a cable, a stain, or any other object that distracts from the subject.

Auto background removal

With Auto background removal, you automatically make the background of an image transparent or replace it with a color. This is especially valuable for webshops, product overviews, team photos, and visual blocks where consistency is important.

Extend image

Sometimes you need a wide hero image, while the client only has a portrait photo. With Extend image, Wix can expand the image and generate the missing borders.

For banners, headers, and responsive layouts, this is a huge time saver.

Image auto-enhancement

With Image auto-enhancement, brightness, contrast, and color are automatically improved. Ideal for a quick initial correction.

When do we use Wix, Photoshop, or other AI tools?

For simple adjustments, we use the AI functions in Wix itself. That is fast, because you don't have to export and re-upload.

For heavier retouching work, we still use professional tools such as Photoshop with generative fill and advanced selections. And for AI image generation, we regularly test various models using tools like t3.chat, because the quality can vary significantly by model and application.

Our conclusion:

AI is excellent for technical, repeatable visual work. But visual choices, brand style, and final quality control remain human work.

2. Responsive AI in Wix Studio

A good website must work excellently on desktop, tablet, and mobile. Wix Studio is responsive by default, but that does not mean that every section automatically feels perfect on every screen.

With Responsive AI, Wix Studio analyzes a section and automatically adjusts the layout for different screen sizes.

That is useful, especially for complex sections with multiple elements, columns, images, and text blocks.

But we primarily use Responsive AI as a starting point.

The AI often achieves about eighty percent of a good mobile layout. After that, we manually fine-tune the spacing, order, aspect ratio, readability, and clickability.

Because that is exactly where the difference lies:

- “the website works on mobile”

and

- “the website feels professional on mobile”.

This is important for SMEs, because a large portion of website traffic is now mobile. A website that feels cluttered on mobile immediately costs inquiries and trust.

3. AI CMS Collections: add structure faster

Many business Wix websites use dynamic content. Think of:

  • vacancies;

  • projects;

  • cases;

  • portfolio items;

  • locations;

  • team members;

  • products;

  • services;

  • knowledge base articles;

  • real estate properties;

  • events

With AI CMS Collections, Wix can generate an initial CMS structure with sample fields based on business information.

This is especially useful for projects with a lot of repeatable content. You quickly receive a first draft, after which we adapt the structure to the actual goal of the website.

An AI-generated CMS structure is therefore not a final product, but it is a good accelerator.

At Yonglo, we then look at, among other things:

  • which fields are really necessary;

  • which content must be dynamic;

  • how filters and categories work;

  • which pages are automatically generated;

  • how SEO fields are structured;

  • how the customer will manage the content themselves in the future.

4. AI for SEO: meta tags, alt texts, and AI Visibility

AI can be very helpful with SEO, but SEO is much more than just generating a title and meta description.

Meta Tag Creator

The Wix Meta Tag Creator suggests a title tag and meta description based on the page content. That is handy for a first draft.

We often use these suggestions as a basis, but always rewrite them. AI usually opts for safe, neat text. For SEO and conversion, however, you want titles and descriptions that:

  • match search intent;

  • contain the right keywords;

  • be distinctive;

  • provide a clear reason to click;

  • match the company's brand voice.

A good meta description is not an administrative field. It is ad text in the search results.

Automatic alt texts

Wix can also automatically generate alt text for images. These are often technically correct: they describe what is in the photo.

Nevertheless, we always check them. After all, a good alt text does not describe everything that is visible, but rather what is relevant in the context of the page.

That nuance is important for accessibility and SEO.

AI Visibility Overview in Wix Analytics

One of the most interesting new SEO developments within Wix is the AI Visibility Overview.

This report shows whether and how your website appears in responses from AI platforms such as:

  • ChatGPT;

  • Gemini;

  • Perplexity.

Wix generates questions that your target audience might ask and analyzes whether your website is mentioned, cited, or used as a source.

You see, among other things:

  • for which questions your website is visible;

  • or whether your brand is mentioned;

  • whether you are used as a source;

  • how high your position in the AI answer is;

  • whether it concerns branded or non-branded questions;

  • which sources AI platforms use;

  • how competitors score;

  • how AI describes your brand;

  • which AI bots crawl your website.

This is becoming increasingly important for SEO. People no longer search solely via Google, but also ask questions of AI tools. If your company is not visible there, you are missing out on a growing channel.

The source overview is particularly valuable. If AI models consistently cite the same industry websites, directories, or comparison sites and you are not listed, you know exactly where an opportunity lies.

At Yonglo, we incorporate this into our SEO approach for Wix websites.

5. AI Text Creator: useful for first drafts

The AI Text Creator in Wix helps create first drafts. For example, you can ask for:

  • a short introductory text;

  • a job description;

  • a product text;

  • a call-to-action;

  • a text in a business tone;

  • a shorter version;

  • a list;

  • an SEO-friendly text proposal.

The tool takes context into account and sometimes character limits as well. This is especially useful against the familiar “blank screen”.

But at Yonglo, one fixed rule applies:

AI text is a first draft, never the final version.

Why? Because AI texts are often correct, but not sharp enough. They often lack:

  • real positioning;

  • commercial nuance;

  • industry knowledge;

  • distinctiveness;

  • brand voice;

  • evidence;

  • concrete examples;

  • the right balance between SEO and persuasion.

That is why we always rewrite AI texts before they go live.

6. AI Site Chat: useful for the right application

With AI Site Chat, a Wix website can automatically help visitors. The chatbot can answer questions, recommend products, assist with bookings, or guide customers to the right information.

This works especially well for websites or webshops with a clear product range.

Consider:

  • webshops with well-organized product categories;

  • wine shops;

  • restaurants;

  • booking websites;

  • course providers;

  • simple service companies;

  • frequently asked questions;

  • Product advice based on preferences.

A good example is an online wine shop where visitors are guided to a suitable bottle based on taste, occasion, or dish.

AI Site Chat works less well in more complex sales processes. As soon as a lot of customization, advice, negotiation, or expertise is required, the chatbot often reaches the point where a human has to take over.

Therefore, we recommend AI chat not as a replacement for sales or customer service, but as a smart first layer.

7. AI product descriptions for webshops

For Wix webshops with large assortments, AI product descriptions can save a lot of time.

You can use AI for:

  • product descriptions;

  • short summaries;

  • category introductions;

  • translations;

  • SEO texts;

  • tone-of-voice variations.

This is efficient, especially for large catalogs.

However, there is a significant risk: AI can invent specifications. Think of incorrect dimensions, materials, warranty periods, delivery times, or technical characteristics.

Therefore, we always check product descriptions for factual accuracy.

For webshops, the following applies:

A well-written product description is valuable. An inaccurate product description is a legal and commercial risk.

8. Auto-generated trailers

Wix can use AI to automatically create short trailers from longer videos. For example, a thirty-second clip for a page, social post, or preview.

This is not a revolutionary feature, but it is practical. Especially for websites with a lot of video content, events, courses, or portfolios, this can save time.

Astro: handy Wix assistant, but not a game changer

Astro is the AI assistant in the Wix dashboard. You can ask questions or have it perform tasks, such as:

  • Where can I find my SEO settings?

  • How many orders did I have last month?

  • add a product;

  • look up an invoice;

  • adjust employee rights;

  • Where do I manage my bookings?

Astro is particularly useful for navigation and support. For customers who do not work in Wix daily, this can prevent a lot of frustration.

But Astro also has limitations.

It works primarily in the dashboard and is not always available when you are building in the editor. Additionally, Astro remains a Wix assistant, of course: recommendations are often focused on Wix functionality, apps, or planning options.

Our conclusion:

Astro is useful for support and dashboard tasks, but it is not the place where professional agencies save the most time.

AI and Wix in 2026: where is the real time saving for companies?

The Wix MCP: Letting AI work directly with Wix

We consider the Wix MCP to be the most interesting development at the moment.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. This is an open standard that allows AI tools to connect to external systems. Wix has made an official MCP server available for this purpose.

In plain language, this means:

You can connect AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT to Wix so that they can work directly with parts of your Wix environment.

That is fundamentally different from a standalone AI chat where you receive code or advice that you then have to copy yourself.

With the Wix MCP, an AI tool can actually perform tasks, modify configurations, or build components within the capabilities of the Wix environment.

What can you do with the Wix MCP?

Via the Wix MCP, you can work with, among other things:

  • Wix eCommerce;

  • products;

  • stock;

  • orders;

  • dispatch;

  • Wix Bookings;

  • services;

  • employee calendars;

  • dates;

  • payments;

  • events;

  • ticket sales;

  • registration pages;

  • pricing plans;

  • memberships;

  • subscriptions;

  • blog;

  • CMS;

  • CRM;

  • forms;

  • contacts;

  • live chat;

  • restaurants;

  • orders;

  • reservations;

  • Wix solutions with open APIs.

This is powerful for developers and agencies because you are no longer limited to just Wix's built-in AI features. You can use your own AI tooling and favorite models.

Why is this important?

Until now, you primarily used “Wix AI” within the Wix interface. With MCP, that changes.

You choose:

- which AI model you use;

- in which development environment you work;

- which instructions you provide;

- how you test and check tasks;

- how to combine AI with your own workflow.

For Yonglo, this means that we can develop, configure, and test custom solutions faster without relying on a single fixed AI layer.

Important warning

The Wix MCP is powerful, but that is precisely why you must handle it with care.

An AI tool that can modify products can also accidentally corrupt your product catalog. An AI agent that can configure bookings can also apply incorrect settings. And a small error in a custom flow can have major consequences.

Therefore, we never work directly at a customer's production environment.

Our working method:

1. first test in a safe test environment;

2. subsequently reviewed by a developer;

3. subsequently check for functionality, data, and security;

4. Only then publish to production.

AI may accelerate, but not make uncontrolled decisions.

Wix Development with GitHub, CLI and AI tools

A lot has changed for professional Wix development in recent years. In particular, the combination of Wix Studio, GitHub, Wix CLI, and modern AI tools makes Wix much more powerful than many people think.

With Git Integration, a Wix Studio project can be linked to a GitHub repository. Developers can clone the code locally, work in their own IDE, and synchronize changes with the Wix environment.

That means that a Wix project increasingly functions like a professional software project.

What does this yield?

This technical workflow has clear advantages for customers.

Version control

Every change is recorded. We know:

  • what has been adjusted;

  • when that happened;

  • by whom;

  • and why.

Is something going wrong? Then we can revert to a previous working version.

Collaborate better

Multiple developers can work on the same Wix site without overwriting each other's work.

Testing before publication

With preview builds and local checks, we can test changes before visitors see them.

No lock-in on a single AI tool

Once code is on GitHub, various AI tools can assist with development. Consider:

  • Cursor;

  • Claude Code;

  • Codex;

  • ChatGPT;

  • other code assistants.

We choose which tool works best for each task. That could be different again in three months. The advantage is that the workflow remains flexible.

Is Wix still limited then?

Many companies still ask: “But isn’t Wix limited?”

Our answer:

Not if you use Wix professionally with Studio, GitHub, CLI, Velo, APIs, and the right development workflow.

Wix is accessible for simple websites. For advanced websites, Wix, if properly configured, can do much more than most entrepreneurs think.

How Yonglo tests AI models

New AI models are constantly emerging. One model is better at code, another at text, images, analysis, or structure.

That is why we do not rely blindly on marketing claims or general benchmarks. We test models on the work we actually do.

For example:

  • a product description for a specific target group;

  • an SEO text for a local service provider;

  • Velo code with a known tricky construction;

  • a CMS structure for a job site;

  • an image prompt in a specific brand style;

  • A rewrite in a clear tone of voice.

By assigning the same tasks to different models, we quickly see which model performs best for a specific task at that moment.

This way, our advice remains up to date. If a client asks which AI model is best for Wix work, we do not provide an answer based on a blog post from last year, but on recent tests.

Where AI ends and human expertise begins

AI has become good at execution. But a good business website requires more than execution.

These are the areas where human expertise remains essential.

Strategy and positioning

AI can create a homepage. But AI does not automatically know if it is the right homepage.

A strong website starts with questions such as:

  • Who is your ideal customer?

  • Why does that customer choose you?

  • Which objections need to be removed?

  • Which services are most commercially important?

  • Where is your margin?

  • Which message should be at the top?

  • What makes your company different from competitors?

That requires strategy, market knowledge, and conversations with the entrepreneur.

Information architecture

AI regularly creates websites with too many pages, too few pages, or an illogical structure.

A good information architecture determines:

  • which pages are needed;

  • which keywords deserve their own page;

  • how services are grouped;

  • how visitors move logically through the site;

  • how internal links are constructed;

  • how the website remains scalable.

This is crucial for both usability and SEO.

Conversion optimization

AI often optimizes for “looks good.” But a business website should primarily generate inquiries, sales, bookings, or leads.

Conversion optimization is about choices such as:

  • Where do you place call-to-actions?

  • How long can a form be?

  • Do you show prices or not?

  • Where do you put reviews or case studies?

  • How do you filter unsuitable leads?

  • Which friction is useful?

  • What information does a visitor need to get in touch?

This requires experience, data, and industry knowledge.

SEO beyond meta tags

SEO is much more than a title tag, meta description, and some keywords in the text.

Professional Wix SEO covers, among other things:

  • keyword research;

  • commercial search intent;

  • content clusters;

  • internal links;

  • technical SEO;

  • structured data;

  • local SEO;

  • redirect plans;

  • indexation;

  • competitive analysis;

  • prevent cannibalization;

  • content planning;

  • AI visibility;

  • performance;

  • authority outside your own website.

AI can provide support in this, but cannot independently determine the correct SEO strategy.

Performance and Core Web Vitals

AI often generates lavishly: many sections, large images, animations, and visual elements. This sometimes looks impressive, but it can harm the speed of your website.

Performance actually requires choices:

  • Which elements are really necessary?

  • Which images need to be optimized?

  • Which scripts slow down the site?

  • Which animations add value?

  • How does the mobile experience remain fast?

  • How do we improve Core Web Vitals?

There is no simple AI button that structurally transforms a slow website into a fast, conversion-oriented site.

Accessibility and compliance

Business websites must increasingly take accessibility, privacy, and regulations into account.

Consider:

  • European Accessibility Act;

  • WCAG guidelines;

  • GDPR;

  • cookie consent;

  • privacy statements;

  • form processing;

  • data processing;

  • contrast and readability;

  • keyboard navigation;

  • clear focus states.

AI-generated designs far from always meeting the correct contrast standards. Furthermore, legal and privacy aspects should not be left to AI without oversight.

Data migration

There is a lot involved in migrating to Wix or from the classic Wix Editor to Wix Studio.

Consider:

  • blog archives;

  • products;

  • orders;

  • customer data;

  • member accounts;

  • forms;

  • URL structures;

  • 301 redirects;

  • metadata;

  • SEO value;

  • tracking;

  • analytics;

  • multilingualism.

A migration error can damage years of built-up SEO value. This remains specialist work.

Factual accuracy

AI can write persuasive texts that are factually incorrect.

Examples:

  • fabricated certifications;

  • incorrect opening hours;

  • incorrect warranties;

  • non-existent product specifications;

  • incorrect prices;

  • incorrect delivery times;

  • incorrect legal claims.

That is not only careless, but can also have commercial or legal consequences.

That is why we always check all AI output before it goes live.

Brand voice and distinctiveness

AI often writes grammatically correct, but generically. It sounds neat, but interchangeable.

Especially now that more and more companies are using the same AI tools, a distinct brand voice is becoming more important.

A good website shouldn't sound like “a company in your industry”. It should sound like your company.

That calls for a human editorial team, a feel for the brand, commercial acumen, and taste.

Our rule of thumb: AI accelerates, but definitely not

At Yonglo, we use AI daily. Not as a replacement for expertise, but as an accelerator.

AI helps us with:

  • image editing;

  • first text drafts;

  • layout variants;

  • CMS structures;

  • product descriptions;

  • boilerplate code;

  • responsive optimization;

  • SEO suggestions;

  • test scenarios;

  • analyses.

But the ultimate responsibility always remains with people.

Our internal rule is simple:

AI must accelerate, never decide.

Strategy, architecture, design, conversion, customization, performance, accessibility, and final editing remain with Yonglo.

Frequently asked questions about AI and Wix

Should I switch to Wix Harmony?

For a business website, we do not currently recommend that as standard. Wix Harmony is interesting and is being actively developed, but for professional client work, we are currently building primarily in Wix Studio and the classic Wix Editor.

We continue testing Harmony and advise customers as soon as it is mature enough for their situation.

Can I get started with the Wix MCP myself?

Technically, that is possible, but be careful. The Wix MCP gives AI tools access to real parts of your Wix environment. That makes it powerful, but also risky.

Never use it directly on your live website without a test environment, control, and technical knowledge.

Is AI-generated content bad for SEO?

Not automatically. Google primarily assesses quality, relevance, and helpfulness. Content does not become bad because AI helped.

However, generic, flawed, or superficial AI content often performs poorly because it adds little value. The best approach is to use AI for speed and humans for strategy, content, and editing.

Do all AI features also work in the classic Wix Editor?

Not all of them. Many AI features for text, images, SEO, and product descriptions are available in the classic Wix Editor. Features such as Responsive AI, Git Integration, and some development capabilities are primarily aimed at Wix Studio.

Which AI model is best for Wix work?

That changes regularly. Some models are better at text, others at code, analysis, or visualization. That is why we continuously test which AI tools work best for our Wix projects.

Do you want to know what the best approach is for your website right now? We would be happy to take a look with you.

AI and Wix in 2026: where is the real time saving for companies?

Conclusion: AI makes Wix stronger, but expertise remains the difference.

AI makes Wix faster, smarter, and more flexible. AI can save a lot of time, especially in image editing, first content drafts, SEO suggestions, responsive layouts, product descriptions, CMS structures, and development.

As far as we are concerned, the most interesting developments are:

  • Wix MCP, because you can make your own AI tools work directly with Wix;

  • GitHub integration with Wix Studio. because Wix development becomes more professional, secure, and flexible;

  • AI Visibility Overview, because findability in AI responses is becoming increasingly important.

But AI does not replace strategy. And AI does not guarantee a better website.

A professional Wix website still requires:

  • positioning;

  • design;

  • conversion;

  • SEO;

  • performance;

  • accessibility;

  • technical knowledge;

  • brand sense;

  • final editing;

  • experience.

That is exactly where Yonglo's role lies.

We use AI where it adds value, but hold people accountable for the choices that matter.

AI accelerates. Yonglo makes it work.
