Avoiding duplicate Google installs
For Managed Google Tags to work correctly, this app should be the only place that loads your Google IDs. If the same ID also loads somewhere else, you can run into double counting and consent timing problems. This article shows where to check.
Checklist: where the same ID might be hiding
Wix Marketing Integrations: Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, or related Google integrations.
Settings, then Custom Code: Google snippets added by you or a previous setup.
Other apps that connect Google Analytics or Ads.
Embedded HTML or custom elements that include Google scripts.
Symptoms of a duplicate install
Double pageviews in Google Analytics.
Conversion counts that look too high in Google Ads.
Tags that appear to fire before a visitor has made a choice.
How to fix it
Decide that this app will be the single loader for each Google ID.
Disconnect the same IDs from Wix Marketing Integrations.
Remove matching Google snippets from Settings, then Custom Code.
Check other apps and embedded code for the same IDs and remove them.
Tick the confirmation box in Step 2, then save and verify.
Important: Using the same ID in two places is a problem even if you think only one is active. Make sure each Google ID loads in just one place.
FAQ
Why am I seeing double pageviews or doubled conversions on my Wix site?
Double counting usually means the same Google ID is loading in more than one place. Check Wix Marketing Integrations, Settings then Custom Code, and any other apps for the same ID, then remove the duplicates so Smart Cookie Popup is the only loader for that ID.
Why must this app be the only Google tag loader?
So consent is handled before your tags load, and so each visit and conversion is counted once. If the same ID loads from another place, Consent Mode can start too late and your data can be doubled.
Can I keep Google Analytics connected in Wix Marketing Integrations?
Not for the same IDs that this app loads. If this app loads a Google ID, that same ID should not also load through Wix Marketing Integrations, or your visits and conversions may be counted twice. Disconnect the matching Google integration in Marketing Integrations.
