Google Consent Mode and cookie categories

When Managed Google Tags is enabled and set up, the app connects your visitors’ cookie choices to Google Consent Mode v2. You do not need to add any Consent Mode code yourself. This article explains how it works.
How visitor choices map to Google
The app maps your Wix cookie categories to Google Consent Mode signals like this:
Analytics cookies control analytics_storage.
Marketing cookies control ad_storage.
Marketing plus third-party data sharing control ad_user_data and ad_personalization.
Functional cookies control functionality_storage and personalization_storage.
Essential and security are always allowed.
What happens on Accept, Decline, or Customize
New visitors: consent starts as denied until the visitor makes a choice.
Returning visitors: their saved choice is restored, so tags do not reset incorrectly.
When a visitor changes preferences through Accept, Decline, Customize, or Save, consent updates automatically.
You do not need to add Consent Mode code
The app handles Consent Mode v2 for you when Managed Google Tags is set up correctly. There is no need to paste any code into Custom Code.

FAQ
How does Smart Cookie Popup connect cookie consent to my Google tags?
It maps your Wix cookie categories to Google Consent Mode signals. Analytics cookies control analytics_storage, marketing cookies control ad_storage, and marketing with third-party data sharing controls ad_user_data and ad_personalization. Essential cookies are always allowed.
What is Google Consent Mode v2 and do I need it on my Wix site?
Google Consent Mode v2 tells Google how to behave based on each visitor cookie choice. If you run Google Analytics or Google Ads for visitors in the EU or UK, you generally need it. When Managed Google Tags is set up, Smart Cookie Popup applies Consent Mode v2 for you automatically.
Does this replace Wix consent logging?
No. Smart Cookie Popup still works with Wix native consent policy system and logs consent in the Wix Privacy Center. Managed Google Tags adds the loading of your Google tags and Consent Mode v2 on top of that.
