Using direct Google tags (GA4, Google Ads, Floodlight) without GTM

If you do not use Google Tag Manager, you can let Smart Cookie Popup load your Google tags directly. Add one ID per line, and the app loads them after consent and manages Consent Mode v2 for you.
When to use direct IDs
Choose direct IDs if you want to load GA4, Google Ads, or Floodlight without setting up a GTM container. This is the simplest option for most small sites.
ID formats and examples
GA4: starts with G-, for example G-XXXXXXXXXX
Google Ads: starts with AW-, for example AW-XXXXXXXXX
Floodlight: starts with DC-, for example DC-XXXXXXXXX
Add your IDs in the Direct Google tag IDs field in Step 1, one per line. You can add as many as you need.
Adding multiple IDs
Put each ID on its own line. For example, you might add a GA4 ID and a Google Ads ID together. The app loads each one after consent.
Warning: If you also use a GTM container, do not load the same ID both as a direct ID and inside GTM. Pick one place for each ID to avoid double counting.
Verify with Tag Assistant
Save and activate your settings in the app.
Open your live site or a preview.
Accept cookies so the app loads your tags.
Open Google Tag Assistant and confirm your tags fire after consent.
Tip: Your tags will not appear in Tag Assistant until after you accept cookies. That is expected.
FAQ
How do I add a GA4 measurement ID to Wix without Google Tag Manager?
In Smart Cookie Popup, enable Managed Google Tags and add your GA4 ID (it starts with G-) in the Direct Google tag IDs field, one ID per line. The app loads GA4 after consent and applies Google Consent Mode v2, so you do not need any code or a GTM container.
Will this work with Google Ads conversion tracking?
Yes. Add your Google Ads ID (AW-XXXXXXXXX) as a direct ID, or manage it inside your GTM container. The app loads it after consent and applies Consent Mode v2.
What is the difference between GTM and a direct G- measurement ID?
A GTM container (GTM-XXXXXXX) is a single place where you manage many tags inside Google Tag Manager. A direct G- ID is a single GA4 measurement ID loaded on its own without GTM. Use GTM if you manage tags in Tag Manager, and direct IDs if you do not.
